Summer Campus...

Summer comes to campus after finals week and graduation, though it’s chilly on this particular morning. No faculty, no students, only staff keeping the engine of the school running from behind the scenes, always behind the scenes. In the new found quiet on a summer Sac State campus day, all of the wildlife feels more comfortable stepping out of the shadows. I’ve already seen many turkeys, including a turkey mom with her many fuzzy baby chicks, bunnies, squirrels, lizards, butterflies, and all kinds of birds. Campus feels like a large park in the stillness of a break from all of the usual hum of activity.

I’ll bask in the quiet days of work until the students and faculty return for the Fall ’26 semester. Then welcome back their presence.
Clouds move over the striking blue palette of sky as I write this. A breeze picks up as if telling me my lunch break is over. Time to get back to work. Back to work…
Thank you for reading.
XO,
Michelle
